Unlike other schools in our field, we do not charge an evaluation fee. In addition to the application form, please provide us with the following documentation:
- Copy of last IEP (Individualized Education Plan)
- Copy of Behavior Intervention Plan, if applicable
- Copy of most recent psychological evaluation
- Copy of last year’s report card
- Copy of most recent standardized test score, if applicable
Assessment
Once we have received your completed application, one of our team members will contact you to set up an appointment. For our team to assess your child, it requires them to spend a full day on our campus. Our school director along with our onsite BCBA’s will evaluate your child’s academic, fine and gross motor, social, and behavioral skills, to ensure appropriate placement. Depending on your child’s literacy level, your child will also be assessed through the Basic Reading Inventory, which is a statewide approved literacy-testing tool. You will be notified via email within 7-10 business days from the date of evaluation if your child has been accepted to the school.
Registration
Once notified that your child has been accepted to Golden Horizon Academy, parents have 14 business days from emailed notification to return the attached registration packet with the registration fee (Registration Fee $250). If your child has or qualifies for the McKay or Gardiner scholarships, the registration fee is waived.
